if the simpsons does end i will be sad to see it go its the end of an era. i thought and hoped that this would be the series finale but no the simpsons kept going and now the show is an insult to the early years.
so i saw the movie and bought the dvd and heres what i thought: overall pretty good it had some good moments and jokes one of my favorite being when homer asks the audiance why there paying to see something they could see for free on TV.anathor favorite of mine was when mr burns tells smithers that he has never considered suicide then says to smithers that if he wants to give it a try it might cheer him up. i am a huge fan of the simpsons i grew up with it, so i could not be more excited when i found out that there was going to be a simpsons movie.
almost all of the humor is based on homer getting hurt thats funny in small doses but here it a complete overload. then there spider pig funny at first but god it got annoying after people kept singing the song all the time.
sadly the movie is pretty low on witty humor that makes the simpsons such a good show. the simpsons have a contract so they will do at least 23 seasons or 500 episodes.
and the question is what will fox replace it with.(probably anathor family guy spin off, the Quagmire show) so anyway back to the movie old simpson fans will probably not like it because the movie is aimed at non fans but the movie still has its funny moments.

Lots of fun and turmoil and action and of course.Homer J Simpson and his bungling. It's the Simpsons. What can I say. Okay for the kids, except for a swear word or two, so cover their ears for a moment or two. I think having a movie after the many years was good. I think people did not like the move (some, I should say didn't) True Simpsons fans.enjoy. Lots of fun and laughs. I bought it and am glad to add it to my collection.
Patty has become a lesbian. There has been so little toilet humor in the Simpsons that I wonder why the writers thought it would be entertaining now. I was fully aware of the decline of the show but the movie was just so awful that I read a book to keep me entertained until it ended (I was determined to make it to the end). Smithers no longer has a cloak of ambiguity.
The humor was not the usual humor of the Simpsons--part of the reason that I love the series is the numerous old historical jokes about Grover Cleveland or old film strips--it was more similar to later episodes of South Park: feces and a subtle political undertone. I watched the Simpsons faithfully from 1990-2005. Mr. Save the Simpsons from the final indignity of becoming a bad, redundant show. Many episodes used to have wonderful parodies of older films (Citizen Kane, A Clockwork Orange, The Godfather) or were genuinely touching.
Burns is no longer the ruthless villain he once was. Euthanize it. Bart's nude skateboard ride was completely out of place and utterly unnecessary. Lisa rarely acts like a little girl any longer. None of that occurred here.Normally, I have something redeeming to say about most movies or books, but for this I have none.The series needs to end before it gets worse.
An episode I saw a few weeks back had Homer fantasizing about Marge making out with Lindsey Nagele. "Gill" is a poor substitute for Phil Hartman's Lionel Hutz (OK, Hartman was killed, but something else could have been done). Get some of the original writers back for a short season and end it.
Movie came still wrapped in it's original packaging. Very cheap and good shipping. Well worth it.
